Slow internet connection

Hi all,

I am on i3wm, up to date. Clean installed today again xD

Only issue is slow internet . When downloading something big, for example Eos iso, custom proton for steam, download speed is about 10 MB/sec. Speed is ok, but for example opening web pages, Eos forum or main page took around 30 sec to open it ( it loading.loading in behind)

Speedtest page can not be opened. I don’t know what is the reason.

Same wifi on my phone, no issues at all

Firstly, check whether you have the same issue on Ethernet to rule out a wifi-related issue.

If only the initial loading is slow then this could be due to DNS resolution or IPv6/IPv4 fallback. You could try a different DNS resolver (e.g. 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8) and disabling IPv6 via Network Manager.

If this happens only on wifi then there’s an alternative driver on the AUR that might be worth trying: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtw88-dkms-git/

Hi,

I can not check Ethernet, because I dont have it on my laptop xD only wifi
But yesterday on previous i3 installation, no issues also.

It started from today, after clean install…

About those link, is not it little old Last Updated: 2020-07-07 06:33

You should invest in an Ethernet dongle, and also check out the second and third parts of my post.

It seems that is the issue. I disabled IPv6, and now it is opening faster (loading is faster). I am not sure why this happened, I never had to disable IPv6

Will see
