Hey. I have a problem that I can’t quite solve myself. Previously, everything worked as it should, but after a while I had problems when the computer was going to shut down, it stopped at the end of the shutdown and I had to turn off with the button on my PSU. It was then because the disk I have TimeShift snaps to was not unmounted due to the schedule in TimeShift, I solved that problem and everything was fine and dandy until yesterday when the problem arose again, although this time I could not lead it to TimeShift, I don’t get WATCHDOG message I got last time and I don’t see in the log what can worry this. I am attaching the log for the shutdown so maybe one of you can figure out what the error is and how I can solve it. If you need other logos, please let us know. Thanks!
What exactly is the problem? Does your computer not shutdown at all or does it just take awhile?
I’ve had a problem with Arch installs on both of my computers since last December where reboots and shutdowns take a minute or more. I posted a question about the issue on the Arch forums, but I didn’t get a reply.
What Desktop Environment are you using? I have had the 90 sec delays at shutdown on Cinnamon lately, whilst Plasma works correctly every time.
When It doesn’t shut down properly, press Ctrl - Alt - F1
Check the last line. This is what I am getting when Cinnamon doesn’t shut down correctly
A stop job is running for Session x of User someone (36s / 1min 29s)
It should be counting the seconds, and when the counter reaches 1min 29s it should continue to shut down on it’s own.
One way I work around this is to log out of Cinnamon, then from the LightDM widow use the “Quit” button at the upper right, then press the “Shut Down” button. This eliminates any User Sessions running.
Nope. The problem you get is not my problem.
my problem is that it doesn’t shut down at all, have to power down my PSU. As I said, it doesn’t happen all the time. Before it was due to TimeShioft’s schedule, a disk was not unmounted, I solved that, but now it seems that something else is causing something not to be unmounted. As I said, the problem does not come every time without a spade sight.
