As I’m satisfied with my shell wizardry EndeavourOS BSPWM setup, I decided to dust off my second laptop, also serving as a backup and distrohop on it… again.
This time, Zorin OS it is. Some folks say it’s the best one for transitioning from Windows, and I decided to check it for myself.
I didn’t have to do much ricing. Decided just to get the Zorin 16.x series default wallpapers (I don’t like Zorin 17.x as much), change the panel size and switch to auto-dark mode.
First impressions? Well, tbh I’m not accustomed to GNOME, even the heavily-customised iterations as Zorin’s. It’s pretty heavy resource-wise and not as customisable as Xfce, but it looks good out-of-the-box and even close to Windows 7 look and feel [1]. I’m going to make some testing and see if one can truly recommend it to Win 10 refugees.
for me, Win 7 is the last good Windows ↩︎
