If you miss compiz, check out wayfire. :fire:

Nah. Wayfire is really really cool but Iā€™m not a fan of wayland in general, although I think it is slowly improving, right now for my use cases X11 just works much better. Also compiz works fine for me at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion though! Compiz development is like openbox: nonexistent but if it works donā€™t fix it

Easy enough - it gets on well with xfceā€¦

What dock and top pane are you using? This is Xfce right? So you replaced the window manager with compiz if Iā€™m not wrong.

Ever troed libanimation withgnome and extention?

It provides wobbly windows, but thereā€™s a lot more that compiz can do, both fancy stuff and actually quite useful stuff (for example being able to on the fly invert colors in any window, or in the whole screen). Also I just donā€™t like gnome at all  If I want a compositing wm Iā€™ll probably use compiz or kwin, otherwise of course worm :worm:

Itā€™s unfortunate that Unity didnā€™t get continued - it was an excellent workflow systemā€¦and had compiz behind it too! Not sure the ā€˜global menuā€™ (Amiga style) would hold up as well now with all the hi-res monitors around, but it sure did the job then!

I know everyone likes the colours(?) - but it WORKED really well without straining the eyesā€¦

Ubuntu 12.04? Geesh I knew you Canadians were a little behind the times. . . but what is it like 2015 there still?

If it was 2015 still, I would be still on Unity! They didnā€™t drop it and ā€˜extendā€™ Gnome 3 until 2017 I thinkā€¦

I could have dug up a later pic - but I tended to have unusual desktops later onā€¦ such as
