In case it wasn’t obvious, I like geometric figures in my wallpapers :slightly_smiling_face:

It wasn’t obvious at all…:duck:

Well, what is that big A doing there?

(I… realized I hadn’t actually installed Arch the “Arch Way” since 2018 and wanted to try to set up btrfs subvols and snapshots manually. It mostly worked, except someone might have forgotten to install xorg as well as pacman-utils… don’t tell anyone plz? )

Only 742 packages? Did you forget anything else??

Eh. Everything seems to work, (printers, network shares, NVIDIA, audio and video players… except I still get random total freezes when not using the LTS kernel and NVIDIA’s latest drivers (and no, it is not Zen specific, linux and linux-zen shows the exact same behavior with NVIDIAs latest drivers for me).

Edit: Now up to 749, installing mintstick.

I read community do a great sway edition :+1: It interest me so i try sway ( it a learn curve ) :scream:20210121_grim

It interesting but wayland/sway got long way before it get close to X / i3

Thank You!! It wouldn’t have been possible without @morten-b or @joekamprad.

We are quite close to being finished tbh. A few bugs to iron out but in terms of configs we are close to finished.:blush:

After some more distrohopping, and realizing I am not a Tiling-WM-guy installed XFCE and made it look the part (for me).

If anyone would care to help out with some testing it would be really appreciated!
There is a simple install script on this github repo:

So you suggest we run that script on an existing i3 install and covert it to sway?

No! Sway and i3 are two different things. What I mean is they are like two different DE you can install both alongside each other and pick which you use at login. Even better because they use completely different applications so they co-exist even better

Ok understood. Wasn’t sure if you were replacing i3 with sway or just adding it :+1:

Oh…I get why you thought that. Although out first thought was stay close to i3 the sway config now has no connection to it. Its file structure is different and keybindings (which are sway defaults now). It has been completely written from scratch (well using the sway example config) and holds no connection to @joekamprad i3

As @OdiousImp says it can’t be recommanded. There are some files e.g. GTK settings, that would be shared, so I wouldn’t do that.

It would be better that you install a clean EndevoursOS, maybe as dual boot, and the from the tty you run the three lines as showed on the repo.

Perhaps not a dual boot… but maybe two users
Its not as drastic as installing GNOME and KDE alongside each other.:innocent: The only things as far as I’m aware they share is gtk2 and gtk3.
