Updated kernel, new wallpaper
Tinkering around with Niri & DMS. Essentially porting my current setup within KDE Plasma.
But that would need some more work.
I’ve to say - Niri does significantly reduce the workload on my machine and I’ve got the impression that it is snappier than KDE Plasma. Only my static tiled window placement might be not work as intended and might break the general approach how Niri is facilitating the tiling behaviour.
Niri is the environment I found to be the comfiest of all.
Unlike Mango, it doesn’t trigger any ADHD reactions, it is very stable and consistent.
And because it is shell-friendly, it’s very easy to get it up and running really fast.
Niri is just great! I am using niri + DankMaterialShell since a few weeks and it is my main desktop environement since then. I really like the way how it works. No wonder that the Arch Linux team will add it as a installation option to the Archinstall 4.4.
Good move!
Yeah and scrolling feels so good with potato resolutions. It also feels really ready and stable software just like Sway. I was on Hyprland but the I did not like how developer messed my settings twice a year ![]()
Yes, especially the latest one, changing from a plain text file to lua. That’s sick. Hypr also crashes from time to time. If you don’t need the eye-candy stuff, Sway and Niri are better choices as a daily driver.
