šŸ–„ļø Share Your Desktop [2026]

Thanks, please leave it for a day or two before you delete it as currently I’m out of town.

It’s not going anywhere. I’m keeping it in my PostImages 4K Wallpaper page.

Nice one. Thanks a lot, mate :vulcan_salute:

Here’s the EOS version…

already downloaded!

Thank you!
I sometimes put it on in my other systems too. Arch, Debian, etc. It’s a Chameleon!

We’re in the same boat :ship:

Meanwhile, on the spare lappy…

Niri + DMS in action.

  • Tweaked Better Blur DX and Darkly. Adjusted a couple settings in Panel Colorizer. Added new wallpaper.

So I was digging through some old archives, and found some gems from… 2007.. that was last week right? Not.. almost twenty years ago.. KDE before it became Plasma.. god I miss those icons.. that looks, where you could genuinely tell what part of the UI was clickable.

On my old PC, with the 980ti, I switched from EOS with KDE and the AUR 580 drivers, but since I didn’t use it often, I switched to Debian 13, whose driver version for my card stops at version 550. Wanting to have the latest available version of the proprietary drivers for my video card, without having distros that update more or less frequently, I had to switch to Mint 22 with Cinnamon. I’d say it’s a good compromise, even if I’m not a fan of the Ubuntu base.

I’m reconfiguring everything so I can have a fully functional PC when needed.

I also added the exact installation date to Fastfetch, which I also entered in the Fastfetch configuration on the main computer.

You’ve got some updates! As an Arch user I cannot not be reacting to that

the screensize aspect ratio

Different times.. It was a Samsung Syncmaster if I remember, 4:3 ratio screens were the norm back then, couldn’t go back!

Why don’t you try LMDE 7 then?! It’s pure Debian 13 stable with Cinnamon.

I’m not trying it because it’s based on Debian 13, at least LMDE 7, and Debian 13 only supports 550 graphics cards like mine.

Since February of this year, I believe, the Debian 12 repos for Nvidia no longer work on Debian 13. You need to modify apt if I’m not mistaken (due to SHA1 certificates no longer being valid on Debian 13, or something like that).

Debian 12 has reached the end of its support period; it will have security support until 2028. Therefore, LMDE 6 won’t be supported much longer either.

I want a distro that’s supported for a little longer than a couple of years, if possible.

Just installed Bunsenlabs Carbon (based on Debian 13). It uses OpenBox, and if you want a full localized desktop right after installation, you better want the English localization

Where can I grab that wallpaper please? Just want to make the wife frown for a bit.

University got in the way and I had to use… this operating system… I will admit: it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be, but it was pretty bad I can’t wait to come back to Linux next month when the craziness will end…

FOLLOW-UP:
After some more tweaking it turned out like this:

I was kinda reluctant to desktop shells, but I think they’re cool if you know what you want to achieve from using them.
