it keeps crashing, my system is essentially unusable. could anyone tell me how to switch from nvidia-dkms to the nouveau drivers? I tried installing xf86-video-nouveau and removing nvidia-dkms but the graphic didnt start when I rebooted.

Thanks for the help, I had to delete my xorg.conf files and then it worked. Unfortunately, the system still crashes using the nouveau drivers, making me think it’s unrelated to the driver.
