I updated my system yesterday and unfortunately it no longer works properly. Things seem normal all the way to the login screen, but after logging in my second monitor goes black and can’t be used. The monitor does receive a signal and is recognized in settings, but displays nothing. I can log out and boom, both screens work again and show the login screen. Log back in and one of them goes black again.
Is there a fix for this?
When i used plasma i once had a similar issue. If you go to display settings the monitor should be there but is disabled. If you enable it again it should workf fine. Also does that happen on other Desktop Environments?
Unfortunately the display shows as enabled, disabling/re enabling it does not work.
Adding nvidia_drm.fbdev=1 to the boot parameters sort of works. The monitor turns on but overall window performance is horrible. As if you are playing a game at 15FPS when dragging windows around. cursor movement also hurts my eyes.
another edit:
Problem seems to be solved by using that boot parameter and loading Wayland instead of X11.
you mean this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SDDM#Wayland
running sddm on wayland instead of its default X11 ?
As plasma/kde defaults to wayland already…
Not sure how it ended up on X11 but indeed it is not the way to go apparently
but … wayland kde/plasma session or sddm (login manager) set to run on wayland?
