Yesterday I updated, and my system (Dell Precision 7550, T1000, monitor connected via a doc station: https://0x0.st/8SVy.txt), stopped recognizing my second monitor. I tried switching to Xorg, and switching to a DKMS driver, both didn’t help. Also, when i boot, my labtops display randomly turns black for a couple of seconds, and then turns on again, multiple times. What might be the problem? Thank you
Your output is rendered from the Intel Gpu. Not sure exactly what the issue could be.
API: OpenGL v: 4.6.0 compat-v: 4.6 vendor: intel mesa v: 24.3.4-arch1.1
renderer: Mesa Intel UHD Graphics (CML GT2)
I assume you mean the nvidia-dkms? But if it’s using the Intel Gpu that wouldn’t help. Are you ever switching to the dedicated graphics? These things can be complicated when using a dock also. So it can be a bit of work trying to nail it down. Not sure what your dock hardware is? You could check /var/log/pacman.log
to see if mesa was updated lately when this issue started. You’ll also be able to see what other updates maybe that would be the culprit. If it was only yesterday then it’s not far to look.
You are not alone with this feature. Plasma produces this for me as well with a HDMI 2nd monitor.
I call it plug-and-play and takes cca. 13 secs.
Edit:
3rd line in your attached file – GNOME. Sorry, didn’t read it. I have no docking unit.
In a Gnome test system there is no such problem with me.
Theese are the only things that got upgraded. I have no idea what might have caused this ussue apart from nvidia or just the Kernel breaking the support for the doc, which i do not believe to be true.
I’m using the ThinkPad universal doc station, and it served me well for a long time.

Well, I’m using GNOME, and it did not recognise my monitor after like half an hour. Thanks for answering tho!
Could be a Gnome thing also. I don’t use Gnome so not sure.
