Searching for sound improvement suggestions

Hello,

It always seems like out of the box, Linux distros need help improving on the sound quality. On my previous EOS install I attempted this but messed up a lot of stuff along the way.

After doing some searching and reading, I see PulseAudio is a frequently used option, but I thought I would simply ask the community, what steps have you taken for improved sound quality?

I donā€™t quite understand you. What is meant by ā€œsound improvementā€?

My apologies, that was a bit vague on my part. My sound seems flat and ā€˜tinny.ā€™ Iā€™m confident that my laptopā€™s features provide better sound quality than I am hearing so Iā€™m trying to learn what are my best options for getting better sound: is it PulseAudio or something else for example?

Or, maybe Iā€™m just expecting too much - also quite possible! :joy:

I use this approach for my ThinkPad: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Lenovo_ThinkPad_T14_(AMD)_Gen_4#Speakers

Maybe it can be used for MSI laptop also.

It seems to me that you should not expect ā€œmiraclesā€ from any integrated laptop solution. Personally, I use an external DAC for music.
Either using Alsa (if additional sound processing is needed) or I immediately output the signal to the DAC if native DSD playback is needed.
I can only draw attention to the easyeffects package, which has many possibilities for some sound improvement.

P.S. And I use pipeware :slightly_smiling_face:
