Sddm crashes after update

Greetings,

I am new to EndeavourOS Plasma. So far, I’m liking it. I am experiencing and issue similar to: sddm crashes after update but with perhaps one caveat. I never get a cursor or login screen. Just black screen. I am able to access tty:

I have run eos-sendlog:

inxi -Fxxc0z | sendlog

Link https://0x0.st/PKNQ.txt

journalctl -k -b -0 | eos-sendlog

link: https://0X0.st/PKNj.txt

TIA

I would try switching to the LTS kernel and see if that resolves your issue.

If you don’t already have it installed:

sudo pacman -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers

If you are using grub, also run:

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

If you are using systemd-boot, there is nothing else you need to do.

Thanks for your reply @dalto.

I’m right on it now.

ahhh.

This all started when I could not run updates. It would refuse authentication of my password. So I logged out and restarted the computer. (this is before updates) I was then able to login. After this update and a couple of reboots/shutdown, I am getting the same issue. when I attempt to login from a tty, 4 in this case, I am denied bad password. So I was attempting to get an nvme I imaged with ventoy and boot the endeavourOS iso but my latop will not even recognize and I can’t find my primary usb stick lf;kasjdflkaj. So currently I am stuck. Gonna wait awhile so my account gets unlocked and try again.

okay after waiting awhile, I logged in and installing lts now.

lts installed.

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

command grub-mkconfig not found.

I have rebooted and no change. black screen.

I have tried: Tried the solution mentioned in this link.

Ran nvidia-inst –test: eos-sendlog did not detect any input. But from the messages: all requested packages and settings are already okay!

@dalto I finally figured out the issue while I was not paying close attention the nvidia 590 drivers were installed and that is why i get a black screen. Now how to downgrade.

I decided to just clear pkg cache reinstall nvidia-470xx reboot, rebuild optimus-manager-git reboot and change my display settings in uefi from performance to balanced.

Its back! Tx for you help.
