Screen goes black when fullscreen videos in browsers

Did some googling to no avail so if you all know of another post ill hop right too it and close this.

Long story short whenever I full-screen a video, be it reddit, yt, twitch, insta, etc… The screen goes black instead of streaming the video. The sound still plays, and with Firefox and YT if I move the mouse to show the controls the video pops up but as soon as the video controls go back to sleep the video is black again.

I have tested this with Firefox and Chromium. I have not tried newer kernel than 6.6LTS. Just had this thought when I was about to post this. Will try now.

I tried to run both browsers from the command line to see what was going on but apparently they don’t dump logs while running from terminal anymore without a command? Not sure, it is new to me.

Welcome to the community! :vulcan_salute: :enos_flag:

Have you tried this in an X11/Xorg session?
Also, have you tried it with a video that is stored on your system?

Seems to work fine with X11/Xorg. Switched to Kernel Version: 6.9.6-arch1-1 (64-bit) and problem persists differently. It seems like it somewhat “settles in” after a few seconds. I did notice that my monitor source popup displayed when it was changing leading me to believe it has something to do with my display settings.

After coming to that realization I went and fiddled with some settings and tested. Turns out Adaptive Sync was the culprit.

Turning off Adaptive Sync solved the issue.
