Screen freeze when changing wifi or ethernet

Hi everyone,

Since I’ve installed Endeavour OS (Gnome), I notice that my PC now freezes almost every-time I switch between Wi-fi and Ethernet or if I’m disconnected from the internet, etc. Since I have a rather unstable network, it’s quite annoying. But I haven’t found any post showing similar problem so I’m stuck.

Here’s the

sudo journalctl -b -1 | eos-sendlog

http://ix.io/4wPg

Thank you guys !

I’ll up this one cause I’m still having this problem and cannot find similar problem.

More recent sudo journalctl -b -1 | eos-sendlog

http://ix.io/4BWI

To describe the freeze more accurately, it is a little bit different than a ‘regular’ freeze where everything stops, because everything else from the screen seems to still be working fine. I can still hear my clicks being made in game for eg., audio is fine, I can still type and when the freeze stops it will have been typed correctly, etc.

So I suppose this could lead to a GPU related problem ? Although it always happen when I change connexion, I suspect it also happens in other circonstances, seemingly random. I might be wrong tho.

Again, thanks a lot !

post your hardware inxi -FAZ --no-host | eos-sendlog

this too sudo dmesg -rl warn, err, crit

Forgot to mention to post dmesg when the system actually froze, you could do this if the screen is frozen by switching to console with ctrl + alt + f3, if that doesn’t work you can do this through ssh (you can enable ssh in the gnome settings). Not sure how to post dmesg from previous boots.

For the first two, I will try to post the dmesg that happen when freezing !

I have googled this, looks like a lot of people have disconection issues with this device, there are a lot of posts, I suggest you look through them, maybe someone solved this, but it looks like a firmware issue, you might need to buy a different card, looks like it’s swapable.
This can easily cause your screen to freeze. At least an explanation for your wifi issues, no idea why you have issues with a wired connection.

this is an an error from your intel graphics, maybe it’s caused by the wifi card, idk.
Might be a good idea to disable the intel graphics and only use your nvidia card, not ideal since it uses more power, but I don’t have a better idea.
