good day dear eos-experts ![]()
i am currently planing to move the data form a FireFox browser - to another Notebook (which formerly runned on a old UBUNTU-System - which will be replace next few days. At the moment i want to save the bookmark data on the browser.
So i guess that i am able to do this export directly - in the FF - i think that i can export the Bookmarks in FF (Mozilla) etc. etx.
Well regarding the question "Where are Firefox bookmarks stored on a older Ubuntu? - its a Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar.
Hmm - well could it be like so that Firefox generally stores that stuff - i.e. the bookmarks, history & passwords in my so called profile folder:
that would be this one
/home/<our_USERNAME>/.mozilla/firefox/
Well that said - i guess that there - (i.e. in that place) i 'll find a folder with a random-looking name, for example:
abcd1234.default-release
well - i think that subsequently Inside this folder a certain file should be included that looks probably like so:
places.sqlite ← contains bookmarks & history"
hmmm besides this - there should be also automatic backups of your bookmarks in this place too:
well i guess that this would be here: "bookmarkbackups/
hmm - i guess that the safest way to do this is to export all the bookmarks directly in Firefox - itself:
Firefox → Bookmarks → "Manage" → "Import & Backup" →
hmm - and that said i guess that i could do this “Backup” in the following formates: (JSON) or “Export as HTML” : The HTML file seems to be apropiate too and should be completely safe and can be easily imported to new systems. What do you say!?
i look forward to hear from you… ![]()
greetings.
