Reverting sound devices to EOS installation default

Because I broke some things I’m probably looking at wiping and reinstalling but I thought maybe this can be a learning opportunity before I do that.

Is there a way to essentially revert and reset all of my sound/audio devices and settings to what it was when I first installed Endeavour, or do I just need to start over and keep better logs of what I do?

I’d offer that it depends what the settings are.

If you’re referring to audio application, and even OS specific settings, then I imagine those could be reset by deleting their respective config directories, possibly located under ~/.config.

If you’re talking about what was installed (drivers, key audio systems, etc), some awareness of what you’ve done would be needed to uninstall what (possibly) broke it and reinstall the original, etc.

If it’s all a bit vague, perhaps the cleanest way forward is a clean re-install.

As @Bink said it all depends what the changes you made where. I would honestly just back up my files (if they aren’t already) and probably just re-install.

Always good to take notes when changing things so that you can revert things if necessary, also another piece of advice when changing things to do it incrimentilly and reboot after each of these changes (makes it easier to figure out what is causing the issue).

A very good point, thanks to you both. Lesson learned: better logs and consistent testing when making changes!
