I’m pretty sure we have gone through this before and Eos grub-tools or something was set up to correct that issue but Grub has changed and maybe the new version doesn’t work the way the old one did. This stuff is difficile! Grub is not my friend. I use it but i also use rEFInd where i can to alleviate these issues because i don’t like dealing with grub. I think any Arch installer will give the same problem. I know Anarchy linux is the same but what i like about Anarchy is that is give you the option to use grub, systemd, syslinux and efistub.
That was my suspicion here:
Sorry I did not grasp the implications here. Up stream has been making some changes with grub and os-prober . But honestly my errors were more then enough to cover the tracks of others.
Thanks ALL for your input.
Sadly this is only resolved, I cleaned up both disks moving the Arch install to sda1, ( Sadly my new Enos re-install was lost in testing options. It wasn’t fully configured as yet anyway.)
Reinstalled grub, updated it rebooted and up and running.
The lesson: Make sure process that are running finish before you reboot. Especially if you equipment is as old as mine!
now were was i?..
Did you get the dualboot working at the end?
No I seriously borked it when I proceeded before Gparted had finished. I had run several distros from Manjaro c.2016 to date. Thus the 2 hdd’s had become sloppy. so now I have 1 blank unused 1tb hdd and 1 running the Arch install from 2016. I did not abandon EndeavourOS. It is on my lap top which I have for portability and to show people. Oh, I also installed Eos my grandsons laptop a short time back…
Thanks for your input pebcak.
I am glad you could at least salvage your Arch installation. Pity that EnOS was damaged beyond repair.
Wish you and your grandson an nice adventure onboard Endeavour.
