Request to consider a curated emoji list for likes on posts

Dear admins/moderators,

If I want to like a post, the emojis I would normally use the most are hidden from immediate view and I need to scroll up to get to them. And, do we really need all of those options for likes on posts?

Could you please consider either less emojis or a more curated list?

According to my research over at Meta, the following settings are the relevant ones to look at:

Turn off discourse_reactions_allow_any_emoji

Specifically for likes on posts, does not affect picking emojis in the composer.

discourse_reactions_enabled_reactions

This is an admin-defined curated list available for use on posts.

The emoji box itself was once scrollable, but after some update on discourse it became like that.. not sure why, might be a issue with discourse itself but idk :man_shrugging:

It’s still scrollable here, are you blocking a javascript?

Don’t think so, on my phone i still have Google chrome… (for testing should something be weird like this here, let’s not talk about it)

And no, doesn’t scroll.
And last time I checked when using Firefox without any addons like ublock on desktop it’s also the same thing… Doubt that these 2 would block stuff.

The emoji options are already curated, and the ones available were chosen/requested by the community.

But I’m always open for suggestions for a new option emoji menu.

Great. You could change the poop one with a coffee one. It’s not usable anymore anyway. It’s just taking up space. :victory_hand:

Drinking coffee often leads to poop, so it’s an appropriate exchange :winking_face_with_tongue:

Well, guess I don’t have that luxury on 3 devices and 4 different browsers.
Mine looks like from OP (I guess that’s what they mean with that screenshot) the whole box expands and you have to scroll the website in order to reach emojis as the box itself isn’t scrollable.
Phone tested with brave/Google chrome
Laptop: Firefox/brave
PC: Firefox/Librewolf/Brave

I don’t use any extensions either and haven’t changed settings (apart from braves crypto stuff)

That sounds like a javascript or more likely a css problem. Try clearing your cache.

well, just cleared my cache once again, and nothing changed

im not surprised that nothing changed, because when you use many different browsers (one of which you never even visited the forum, guess which one that could be) and many different devices (one of which you did a clean reinstall) i really doubt the cache would be the reason this happens.
I mean it doesnt bother me as i got used to it, it just a bit annoying

Which browser are you using, because the box isn’t scrollable over here either in several browsers.

I can understand that the box is too big, so which of the emojis are essential for you all, to make the box smaller?

If you change your theme from the Horizon theme to one of the others you will get the scroll box. If you use the Horizon theme you do not get the scroll box. We discussed this back when the change first happened.
