Just completely a SWAG, but maybe that feature not active in pub?
If I reply to your reply, and my reply is not directly below your reply, then the reply icon is shown. But if my post follows directly yours, then no reply icon is shown, because it’s clear to which post I’m replying.

Ah I see there are a few other examples now I find. I guess that repliers hitting the wrong reply button adds to the confusion.
