Waterfix was renowwed because of there first 64bit further is now a esr with less limitiaton on extentsion but that can be unstafe on some point
lol, another thing I don’t touch. Can see that flatpak and snap make it easier for developers to funnel everything into one package, and to share the packages. I prefer appimage, which is great for avoiding any extra packages such as qt etc, plus can try different versions of a program, or update easily by just downloading the updated appimage. So simple to use, and clean.
i3wm is good base simple and stable and maintained
openbox get maintained but not as matter we want also
Yes, Waterfox Classic is really great for extensions, and I fully agree that this can get unsafe, as these extensions stop being maintained but are still able to be installed. Sticking to the main privacy extensions can help with that, for sure, and keeping as few extensions on the system as possible.
I haven’t ever explored i3wm. Is that what you use? I’ve tried openbox a while ago, but had some issues.
About the webkit2gtk, maybe it’s going to be a case of having one machine with no browser/ethernet on, and another that only has browser/ethernet on, then normal use and privacy isn’t getting mixed up with any webkit/browser integration stuff.
When you get used to i3wm, mayby you want to explore in more deeper in tiling who knows
the webkit2gtk does not use internet is basicly in use for frondent , you can make it as browser but is just the coders have to code intoo it like midori/ enphany whatever… but webkit2gtk is just a gui frond end accepting css/html code for frontend. just how you put it on screen no internet needeD.
Thank you for further explanation. I’m not technically able about exploring network stuff, so err on the side of caution as much as possible, and just not keen on the way web/desktop starting to integrate. Big corporations far too keen on that, and not respecting data privacy etc. And, yes, will take a look at i3wm. Not sure how I’d do with a tiling desktop, as I do art and the desktop looks like a giant storyboard + rainlendar with media frame, allsorts, lol, but it’s always good to see what others use and to learn about that. That reminds me, I meant to post about Rainlendar, as a new skin I found for it includes a media frame, something I never thought could be possible to have on Mate. Will make a new thread about that, or add it to the thread about favourite lesser known applications.
