GTX 960 will be able to support 1440p 165 Hz. This only requires DP 1.2 speed, DP1.4 is not required.

good call, g-sync disabled
EDIT. but idk if this does anything

the cable came with the monitor, don’t have others and it had worked before?

Check both. Does it make any difference after changing if you reboot?

When you said you had it working before were you using EndeavourOS? Or another linux distro?

EOS

i had some before EOS, like Pop!_os and Manjaro, they had worked but idk if it would work today?

g-sync? or what do u mean?

Yes gsync. What you could do is remove the nvidia drivers and revert to nouveau open source first and reboot.

Then run `inxi -Ga to see if it is running on nouveau. Then you could re-install the nvidia drivers.
To revert to open source nouveau drivers.

nvidia-inst -n

reboot and run

inxi -Ga

To install nvidia drivers

nvidia-inst

reboot and run

inxi -Ga

I’m only suggesting this because it maybe there’s something messed up on the install of the drivers?

Edit: This may or may not make any difference but worth trying.

Edit2: To use nvidia-inst you have to have the package installed in case you don’t.

yay -S nvidia-inst

i’ll live update:
after: nvidia-inst -n

idk how it worked after the clean install

It’s not showing the nouveau drivers?

did nvidia-inst

said it’s a conflict with nvidia, removed nvidia myself, did it again, this time conflict with nvidia-lts, one of them shouldn’t be there since when i install another it always ask em to remove the other…?

so i think i had to remove them first myself?

i’ll try again

I wanted you to remove the nividia drivers with nvidia-inst-n
Then i wanted you to show me that it worked by rebooting and running inxi -Ga

Do this before reinstalling the nividia drivers with nvidia-inst and then again show me so i know that it is done properly.

And yes if you have steam installed then you run into dependency issues. So you have to get around those things by removing them etc and starting from scratch to correct the issue at hand.

i did? but i didn’t remove the nvidia drivers because i thought nvida-inst -n would do it for me?

so i did remove the nvidia driver
now it says:
:: removing nvidia-utils breaks dependency ‘vulkan-driver’ required by steam
:: removing lib32-nvidia-utils breaks dependency ‘lib32-vulkan-driver’ required by steam

im at it, i read your edit

how do remove steam with those things? -Rs would remove too much?

Normally when you install EndeavourOS if you have a current Nvidia card supported by the latest Nvidia drivers you select Nvidia in the menu from the live ISO. Then it automatically installs the nvidia drivers.

weird i didnt had to select anything~ besides packages like kde and lts kernel zen etc but the ISO didnt had anything with nvidia on it? or i might just be dumb

When you boot on the live ISO the default menu entry is for non nvidia gpu but if it detects nvidia it will install open source nouveau. You have to select the nvidia option for latest cards. Your GTX960 is still supported.

Not sure if you want to remove Steam with yay -R steam to get around the dependencies.

Edit: Is this a fresh install again?

what should i do instead?

ill try the last steps you gave me and if isn’t gonna work i might start it over the USB to see the ISO Nvidia profile

well, it is the same the whole thread, 2 days old EOS

Okay and if you do reinstall what i would do is select the nvidia option. Are you using systemd boot also or grub because that also has to be selected. The default is systemd-boot. Then check that the nvidia drivers are properly installed and it’s rendering on the nvidia gpu with inxi -Ga

Then check your monitors to see if they are using the proper settings.
Do all of this before getting into installing steam or anything.
