good to see it is working now, it will work also to download and install endeavouros-mirrorlist/-keyring before changing pacman.conf, then change it to the new repo an update db and system with sudo pacman -Syyu
May more users still not change this running EOS from the first beta?
Normally other users zill have the same problem but as long as they do not try to grab something from the endevaour repo, everything will work for them…
Maybe stupid question, but after running sudo pacman -Syyu I get:
→ gettext: local (0.20.1-1) is newer than core (0.19.8.1-3)
→ harfbuzz: local (2.6.1-1) is newer than extra (2.6.0-1)
→ harfbuzz-icu: local (2.6.1-1) is newer than extra (2.6.0-1)
→ libuv: local (1.31.0-1) is newer than extra (1.30.1-1)
→ npm: local (6.11.2-1) is newer than community (6.11.1-1)
→ Missing AUR Packages: endeavour-keyring endeavour-mirrorlist
Is my computer going to explode? Should I be worried?
The other post said there was stuff missing from the page and gave some other explanation on how to install reflector-auto. The only thing i could see is ctrl + o + enter to save but i guess it saves it and closes in one operation then with just ctrl + x? I thought maybe it needed to be saved first or it just exited?
Forget that. The “only” thing missing on the Wiki-tutorial in my opinion is a short notice that the addressed package is only part of the EOS repositories at this time.
A non EOS user can install them too, though. My instructions will work an any arch distro as opposed to the Wiki, which will only work for an EOS user.
The only issue i saw with the instructions is that i thought you had to save the file first in nano with ctrl +o + enter otherwise i thought it just exited without saving when you use ctrl + x. I thought maybe that was a missed step. Maybe i’m wrong but every editor is different and a lot of users including myself don’t know ALL the functions of different editors. So if it’s nano, or gedit or vi or whatever is being used if you tell them to save the file and then tell them to exit they may not know how unless you tell them and explain. I didn’t think it automatically saved the file if you exited unless it was a file that already existed and you were making changes. But if it’s a new file being created that’s what i thought?
I thought if the file was blank and you are creating it for the first time it would just exit. IJust out of habit i always seem to use ctrl + o + enter first.
This is what i thought on that file that it is empty an we are creating it for the first time? Was i wrong? That’s why i thought that step was missing? Or does the installation of reflector-auto create it automatically and we just edit it? I didn’t see any info in the file when i edited it.
