Recover From Video Driver Install Attempt

You can’t use nvidia-inst to install the 340.xx drivers because they are not supported by nvidia. The only way to install the 340.xx drivers is via the AUR.

Yes you can install the dkms version which is nvidia-340xx-dkms and is more beneficial.

Everything is already set up for nvidia on EOS so i would be careful following some other guides if you don’t know. You don’t need to make some of those changes. Those guides are based on starting from scratch after installing arch. But yes the drivers are correct for that card.

This is what i was attempting to have you explain to me. You do need the utils package. Using dkms version is better as it rebuilds every time there is a new kernel.

I successfully removed a drive from my LVM and DD’d my EOS installation to it. That was a first and well worth the experience.

Tonight I’ll see if I can get Grub setup so I can boot to it and try the NVidia install again.
