xf86-video-vmware was not installed on my Arch VM, so that is why that VM booted with no issues at all using VMSVGA Graphics Controller.

I removed xf86-video-vmware from my EOS test VM, changed the Graphics Controller with 3D Acceleration enabled and EOS boots successfully. Thanks @manuel for the hint.

Think I had the same issue, but removed xf86-video-vmware instead of downgrading it. Is this likely to be a problem? System seems to at least boot now…
