[Realtek RTL8812BU] TP-Link Archer T3U Wi-Fi Adapter not working after Apollo Install

I’m amazed this is the only installation where the Network Manager system tray icon doesn’t present a list of any network… and not even the wired LAN? :exploding_head:

What options did you choose when you installed EnOS?

I removed the ethernet connection by myself to make sure the wireless one actually works 100%.

For me it finally works but it doesn’t feel like we got the same solution like back then when I could see all the connections even from my neighbours.

It feels like we are almost there!

I did an offline install with XFCE and manual partition. I did the same with Atlantis Neo back then.

I’ll download a fresh Apollo image and see what I can see. Something seems off.

It might work for you since you are not using the TP-Link Archer T3U Adapter which is causing these problems.

The pop-up menu should appear no matter what, it doesn’t matter what wifi adapter is in use.

Unless this was all just an extremely convoluted way to advertise a YouTube video…

Ok I’m exited to see what you will find out.

haha true and also a very old video where Apollo not even existed.

I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who tried to help me.

OK, I don’t know what you’re clicking on, or not.

The Network Manager icon works perfectly for me, even with no networks available.

Normally I’d suspect that you have made some customisations to EnOS somewhere along the line…

Could you verify whether this icon works correctly within a live installer environment?

None of this makes any sense to me at all. There is absolutely no reason it shouldn’t just work when installed. Has to be more to this than we know.

I logged in as liveuser again to make sure if I get the same result like in your picture.

It doesn’t look like in your picture even when I’m using EnOS as liveuser.

Exactly. I don’t understand why it works for @jonathon when he is using EnOS as liveuser. I had the same issue with Atlantis Neo but back then we fixed it somehow.

The icon is working with a pop-up menu, however. The wifi won’t show up - as expected - because the driver isn’t installed in the live installation environment.

The question now is why this menu does not appear for your normal user.

Is NetworkManager even installed? Or was it removed?

NetworkManager itself must be installed for nmtui to work (as used in the “solution” video). I don’t understand why the system tray icon would just “break”.

I’ve never use nmtui so i wouldn’t even know.

both nmtui or nmcli good thing use/understand .

But could be something installed that steals the wifi device… like another network manager…

Ive always had connections except if i install Arch and use iwd.
