Really. A person’s first or surname can’t be posted? Is this a Discourse thing that can be changed?
I tried to reply in the Books topic about an author with a last name only to be greeted with a pop-up that the word was banned.
The author in question…
Come on, you got this. This is obviously filtered by a simple swear word list, not triggered by the name of a particular person.
Well, yeah. But his name is what it is. It’s not like his name is *hit, *unt, *uck, or *itch.
is a NAME

I thought he was joking…
You can’t be sure nowadays, we had the whole situation about that same topic in the past. If it’s in good jest throw a smiley or /s in, and let’s avoid tedious work for the forum admins.
I’m really unsure now myself after Spell’s reply… oh well…

It is more foregiving for us Brits, for example I can mention my favourite actress Hilary Swank, and call people a knobhead
I edited the Books post with an image of the word.

I dread to think… where did you get the picture?
Shag
Bollocks
Bell-end
Knob
Fanny
Minge
Yeah, you Brits seem to have free range on “naughty” slang.
I mean that’s totally fine. Everybody knows you don’t use it as a swear word - obviously.
On the other hand, it’s probably useful to have a - while crude - automated system that throws a warning if people start to use unproductive words in a potential heated conversation.

Yep Discourse is.. special. But special characters do work as a legitimate workaround
I feel like this is what the singularity will feel like…
