Q4OS, Trinity & CDE

Hello all. I like the old school DEs like CDE and Motif, but they’re hard to come by because they’re “too old”. Well, being “too old” myself, I happen to love those DEs, and I came across Q4OS (based on Debian Trixie) a couple of days ago with the Trinity DE (based on KDE 3.5) and I freakin’ love it! It’s got the look I like, i.e. the CDE look, and I can tweak it to within an inch of its life. Wouldn’t it be nice if some EOS programmer(s) took a look at how it could be offered by EOS during the install? I know I’m asking a lot, but I love EOS and having that DE added to the list would be so nice. Just sayin’.

The trinity packages aren’t in the official repos so the installer we probably won’t be offering it as an option.

However, you can choose “No desktop” in the installer and then add trinity yourself after the install. It is not that hard to do.

Thanks for the link. I will definitely look into that after I’ve had some time playing with Q4OS.

Cool! I’ll try that. I have two NVME drives on my main machine, one of which is currently not in use. Long live Arch Linux and long live EndeavourOS!
