Proper procedure to get rid of NVIDIA drivers after GPU swap?

So I am getting a 7800 XT soon since I am using Linux full time now and I don’t want my Nvidia card anymore, I don’t even like Nvidia much at all. I am using the proprietary drivers currently.

What is the proper procedure to swap the GPUs and make sure the drivers act as they should? Do I uninstall all Nvidia packages before shutting down and swapping the GPU, or afterwards? Won’t there be errors or incompatibilities if Nvidia dkms driver modules are in the kernel but no Nvidia gpu is present?

I’d appreciate a step by step as I am not the most experienced and don’t want to mess things up.

I don’t see why you couldn’t uninstall the nvidia drivers and then shut it down and remove the nvidia card and put in the amd card and boot which would load the amdgpu module. But I can’t say with certainty that you won’t have an issue. It’s probably the way i would do it.
