Problems when configuring HDR properly

Hi everyone  First of all, i’m loving endeavouros and everything is super snappy and almost as i wanted.

i have a second monitor that shows hdr enabled under kscreen doctor:
Output: 2 HDMI-A-1
enabled
connected
priority 2
HDMI
Modes: 20:3840x2160@60*!
Geometry: 1920,0 3840x2160
Scale: 1
Rotation: 1
Overscan: 0
Vrr: incapable
RgbRange: unknown
HDR: enabled
SDR brightness: 200 nits
SDR gamut wideness: 0%
Peak brightness: 0 nits
Max average brightness: 0 nits
Min brightness: 0 nits
Wide Color Gamut: incapable
ICC profile: /home/allx/Downloads/DCI-P3-v4.icc
Color profile source: ICC
Brightness control: supported, set to 3%

but i cant seem to be able to configure HDR properly… The option on Display Settings of HDR doesn’t appear at all, and on nvidia-settings there’s no HDR configuration whatsoever.

I’m on nvidia driver 565.57.01, CPU is a ryzen 9 7900. The cable is good and works with HDMI on my videogame console. Other relevant things: I’m on KDE Plasma 6.2.3, under KWIN,

How can i set peak brightness, Max average brightness and Min brightness to actually have a bright and true HDR-10 screen under?

thank you already

A quick update: i can see that HDR is working because of side by side comparisions of VLC output and mpv (mpc has better colors) but i just wanted to make it brighter. the brightness is super wrong

Are you using Wayland?

HDR support is experimental and only works in a Wayland session. System Settings > Display & Monitor > High Dynamic Range > Enable HDR.

when i do neofetch, it says that I’m on KWIN. could this be the problem? should i change to wayland?

sorry im a newb

edit: with
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
it says wayland. Also, the “high dynamic range” under display and monitor is not showing up

I’m a newb when it comes to some of this also. I think a lot of HDR stuff is controlled in the platform you are running such as gaming. Not sure about the desktop itself or apps. :person_shrugging:
