Problems launching Juk music player on KDE since the last update [2021-04-23]

Since the update to Juk I have been unable to launch the programme. I’m not sure whether this could be related to pipewire, as I am running this, as opposed to pulseaudio.

I’m running juk version 21.04.0. pipewire & pipewire-pulse are at version 0.3.26.

The only clue I have is the following output, which appears in journalctl when trying to launch the programme:

Apr 23 14:27:05 *** systemd[2958]: Started JuK - Music Player.
Apr 23 14:27:05 *** pipewire-pulse[3494]: pulse-server 0x55752de0e5d0: [libphonon-probe] ERROR command:87 (EXTENSION) tag:2 error:19 (Operation not supported)
Apr 23 14:27:05 *** plasmashell[3104]: file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/Task.qml:379: Unable to assign [undefined] to QString

No errors/output is produced when typing juk in the terminal. My output from inxi --full --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host is as follows:

Juk installed and works fine for me, without pipewire though, so that looks to be the issue.

You could try downgrading pipewire to 1:0.3.25-1, to confirm if that is the issue. That package should be in your pacman cache, either use downgrade or pacman -U to install it.

It could just be that juk needs a rebuild against new pipewire version. If so, Antonio Rojas is pretty quick with these sorts of rebuild fixes.

So, I switched back to pulseaudio, but I still have the same problem, but this time with a few different diagnostics:

journalctl output:

The notification to say that Juk is running in docked mode pops up (often some time later). However, the context menu icon isn’t there.
