Problem with nvidia-installer-dkms on hybrid graphics booting to black screen

I’m assuming when you set it for Hybrid it should be booting on Intel and as you say when you hook another monitor to it, it runs on Nvidia?

Correct, but only if Nvidia driver is installed of course.

For dedicated graphics only, one has the option to switch Intel off in the bios, but need to black list nouveau. This works for me:

First: check if you can setup the Graphics cards inside the Bio/Firmware it could be that you can switch the Nvidia GPU off to be able to boot with intel only. Second: if there are no such settings, you can blacklist nouveau driver from beeing loaded on boot, or opposite blacklisting intel driver: Boot till the Grub Menu shows up, press “e” for edit and put: nouveau.blacklist=yes modprobe.blacklist=nouveau [2021-05-10_20-25] [2021-05-10_20-29]

Then the alternative is to install optimus-manager and switch back and forth between Intel or Nvidia card on laptop. When it works it is ok, but graphics can be glitchy.
