Problem with mirrors trying to install from AUR

Hey people.

Trying to install davinci-ffmpeg-encoder-plugin using yay -S , i get the following error.

Tried updating my mirrorlist with reflector simple, checked every country, even the http mirrors, but to no avail.

Read somewhere that it might be a firewall/ ipv6 issue, but not sure about that, the errors people were getting where similar but not identical so i did not take any chances following any advice from other forums.

Any ideas?

First, please don’t post screenshots of text; post the raw data between the code tags. After updating the mirrors, you need to run yay -Syu instead of yay -S so your local databases will be updated.

Well, reflector-simple would work best if you pre-selected your country and some of the neighbouring countries, sort by rate, limit it to the freshest mirrors and if the issue persits, increase the download timeout to a larger value than 5s.

Alternatively, install the rate-mirrors package and run

$ rate-mirrors arch | sudo tee /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist && \
       rate-mirrors endeavouros | sudo tee /etc/pacman.d/endeavouros-mirrorlist

which is my prefered way, as it will detect neighbouring countries automatically, perform a speed test for the found mirrors and identify the best mirrors for your location in one go for the Arch as well as the EnOS repositories.

Sorry for the screenshot, will keep that in mind.

Run yay -Syu and after the updates the installation worked like a charm.

Can i ask how that works and if it is possible to update only the databases and not the system or the applications installed?

Thanks for the info, will try rate-mirrors if i encounter a problem like this again.

Judging by the fact that i set reflector to all countries with freshest mirrors and timeout set to 10s i will assume that my fault was not updating the databases as ajgringo619 said.

You can update the databases without upgrading, but it’s usually frowned upon. The reason for the 404 errors is that your current database is pointing to package versions that no longer exist. That’s why running yay -Syu (or just yay, as it’s an alias to yay -Syu) is always the better option.

Thanks for the solution and the information.
