Problem with Fallout 76

To specify, my question is about stability of the game.

Here are list of my problem I encountered right after I installed it on my Steam:

  1. Latest GE-Proton/Proton/Experimental cannot start when you change the Display setting to Fullscreen.

  2. (on borderless) Game prone to crash, losing audio few minutes during gameplay.

  3. (on borderless) oftentimes game shows weird artifact(?) on particle effects (when enemy exploding for example) (attached: https://ibb.co/87wfZ9F) which often led to crashes. Note: Idk how to post picture, so I use free image hosting site).

  4. (on borderless) Extremely low frame rate at all times even on indoors area where you aren’t supposed to have low frame rate (I know the performance was exceptionally improved during last few months!)

What I have tried:

  1. Installing older version of Proton (7.0.6, specifically) and it does solve the game being unable to start if you enable fullscreen, but other problem persist.

  2. Switching wine-staging to wine (don’t even think this has to do about anything but well, I tried).

  3. Lowering graphics settings (it helps just a little bit), but the framerate still slow.

  4. Switching between wayland to xorg/x11, no dice.

  5. adding [DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=“AMD ATI Radeon RX 6400/6500 XT/6500M” %command%] or [DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=“AMD ATI Radeon RX 6500 XT” %command%], no dice. Tried it on all the proton/ge I’ve installed, they even failed to launch!

  6. Tried to disabling iPresetIntervalto=0, not helping at all.

  7. Tried adding gamemoderun %command%, not helping at all, on latest proton/ge it often make the game fail to launch.

This is my spec (neofetch): https://ibb.co/9sMbGyg

Basically I’m running EndeavourOS, with Gnome, often on Wayland but Xorg session is available, 16gb of RAM, RX 6500 XT (4GB), with left over 3400G chip which I haven’t got the time to replace.

On Windows, the game runs fine, on High-Ultra (medium texture), I usually got between 40 - 60 fps, that is enough, I’m not competitive gamer, I just want to play relaxing game after grueling 9 to 5.

I know I’m shooting in the dark here but I’m hoping somebody here got the answer I seek.

edit: I use mangohud, GPU usage is 100% almost at all time, CPU usage is on 10-15%. Does not happen on Windows.

I would look through here and try out different solutions that people have tried, though looking through it (filter the results to find more relevant answers)
https://www.protondb.com/app/1151340

I’ve done that. Nothing helpful for my case.

Looking at the results 7/13 of them (AMD CPU/GPU and Arch) have issues and give it a thumbs down - looks like you are one of those cases unfortunately. Maybe someone else on the forum will have an answer but.

Found the solution!

Insert this: DRI_PRIME=1 DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=“Radeon RX 6500 XT” %command%

on launch options.

Not sure if it’s matter but I use 7.0.6 proton version.
