Problem oldroot/sys target is busy when shutdown or restart

Good, I’ve been having this problem for more or less a month, and I can’t find the solution. Previously it came from Pop os, and it didn’t have this problem, but it did have other problems, for example, when it suspended the computer, which in EndeavorOS doesn’t happen to me.

The problem arises after restarting or shutting down the equipment, it stays between 2 to 5 minutes until the equipment is turned off, to start the equipment there is no problem.

What if I have noticed, that, for example, when there is a Kernel update or something in the system, if I reboot, the PC restarts or shuts down in normal time (5s approx), but then, if I restart or shut down again, it returns the error is fixed momentarily when there is an update.

I have tried some solutions that I have found here in the forum, such as the following:

But it didn’t work for me, moreover, after an update directly, the PC didn’t even start, so I had to deactivate this fix.

I understand that the other error, from parse_torblock, has to do with the partitions of my hard drive, but that is not the problem for which I consult, the issue is the shutdown, which is driving me crazy. If anyone can think of or had a similar situation that could be solved, I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope I can stick with EndeavorOS as the rest works great for me.

Have you disabled watchdogs?

If this does not solve it, then it may be nvidia.

Posting text info in images does not help your helpers. Please, don’t.

The posted logs seem to show the results of the actual problem, not the source.
When posting logs, always include the command you used to get them, or it will definitely include useless info messages.

The commands I use are the following:

Update the pc, yay -Syu.
Reboot
After reboot, journalctl -b -1 | grep error

These are the commands from the first log.

Then again:

Restart pc (here the error happens)
After reboot, journalctl -b -1 | grep error, since it is the previous boot, the log before this would be -b -2, if I am not mistaken.

The Nvidia issue, I tried the solutions, but none of them solved the problem, in addition, I had to deactivate the solutions, since after an update the system did not work.

I’ll try disabling watchdog and post the results.

Have you read man journalctl, or Archwiki on journal? It helps…

There I tried the other method, to add the blacklist iTCO_wdt line to the blacklist.conf file, restart 1 time, and I did not throw the error, but in the wdctl command I did not notice that there was a change. iTCO_wdt is an Intel module; I would not expect it to be present on your AMD Ryzen system.

If you want to blacklist a watchdog module, figure out what module is in use on your system (Intel systems frequently have multiple modules that need to be blacklisted, but with AMD it’s usually just one module, sp5100_tco). Run:

lsmod | grep -e dog -e wdt -e tco

That should tell you what module(s) you need to blacklist.

That said, I don’t think this is a watchdog issue.

Although, I have to say, by blocking iTCO_wdt the problem hasn’t appeared anymore, for now. Restart the pc, turn off, turn on, 0, no more problem, it’s weird, could it be that the intel module was the problem?, because the only change I made now was that, nothing more. I will see if with the following days, in some kernel update it happens again, in that case, I will add the AMD Ryzen watchdog, but for now I will leave it that way, if everything works correctly.
