Printing from web browser doesn't work after updating to Ganymede

After updating my EOS to the latest release of Ganymede, I found that printing from the web browsers doesn’t work, I have tried Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Chromium (I have those 3 browsers installed), all of them failed to print a page, looks the printer cannot be connected at all, no printer icon appeared at the tray.

But printing from local file opened by local program, e.g., Libreoffice document, is working normally.

Before the updating the printing from web browsers worked very well without any problem.

My system:

Kernel: 6.17.9-arch1-1 arch: x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: Xfce v: 4.20.1

I just ran into this this morning…..The problem is with the current version of cups. You can either downgrade to the prior version, open up extra-testing, and use the next version (this is what I have done), or just wait a couple of days for cups to move from testing to a “normal” version release…..It looks like it is known that this is a problem with this version of cups….a -2 release appeared in testing very shortly after I found this problem.

Thanks for reply. Let me wait for the cups update.

The update is in testing, so it “should” be out in the next few days.

I downgraded the cups from 2.4.15 to 2.4.12, but issue is still existing :sob: . Will wait for update of the cups.

Just for the record, because this is triggering me and others should not make this (minor naming) mistake:
You did not upgrade to the latest release of Ganymade. This is not possible.
You either had a running Endevour OS, which you updated (not Ganymede) or you installed the ISO Ganymede offline without further updates. Then, and only then, you have Ganymede. Until you hit “update”.
Ganymede is only the latest install ISO. As EndevourOS is a rolling release distribution there are no such things as “stable” or “static” or “named” releases. Everything is just EndevourOS.

Same here today with my Brother printer, I’ll wait then until cups is ready and willing.

The cups bug is tracked at https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups/issues/1429

thanks for that. I can’t print either and it appears to be one of those linux-wide dealios that happens sometimes

Yes there is also a topic on Solus forum.

Downgraded cups and libcups and it is working again.

According to this thread , the problem seems to have been solved by todays update.

Only as aside note.. there is no such thing EndeavourOS is using rolling release Model nopt Point release. ISO is not the OS, its an installer to create OS, what is getting released on EndeavourOS.

And the issue is indeed already resolved with latest cups package as far as i know, underlaying issue was a bit more complex, but i had the issue yesterday and while i was investigating it was already resolved with a new cups package.
