Pre-message with helpful information for first time posters

Hi,

Most of the posts in the forum nowadays is: “x does not work”. No logs, no inxi. Usually from first time posters, but not only.

It is inefficient when trying to diagnose/help.

Would it be possible to show template message for first time posters, in body of a message. Like: “We are happy you are going to post for the first time. Please post output of inxi and logs - see more info about getting logs here → link.”.

This would speed up things and minimise noise. IMHO.

Welcome message and pinned topic just not that noticeable, there should be some information before posting in the help sections, at least until the user makes a certain number of posts or comments.

I am on a bunch of Linux forums and seen a bunch of things attempted. Messages to new users, post templates, etc.

The reality is, they have almost no impact. Most people either don’t read them, don’t care or don’t understand them. In the case of the post templates, often users will leave the post template in their actual message making it harder to read than it otherwise would be.
