So, I have endeavour installed on 4 machines. On 2 of them (Lenovo ThinkPad T14s G3 AMD & Dere v14s) power-profiles-daemon works like I’d expect. I can change power profiles via the battery icon in the plasma system tray, and I can set the power profile to switch to when it switches to plugged in, battery, and low battery.
The other 2 machines, a HP ProBook 445 G8 and a Dell Inspiron 7415 2-in-1 it doesn’t work like I’d expect. It’s installed, enabled, and shows running. However, there is no option to change profile for the battery icon, and if I go to configure power options, the only choice for switch to profile is “leave unchanged”.
If I do a powerprofilesctl I just get “placeholder” as the driver for balanced & power-saver, and there is no “performance” section.
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_driver shows the amd-pstate driver being used on both, which is the same as the T14s G3 AMD.
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor shows schedutil being used, which is the same as the T14s G3 AMD.
Not sure what else to look at to see where the issue lies.
Is best supported on intel CPU AMD is working in most cases but on newer CPU like Ryzen not that well…
