I think I posted mine a long time ago, but here is an update:

Possibly because of your use of Chaotic AUR?
(And also why almost all of your foreigns are ‘bin’ - there would be no reason for chaotic to build/serve those.)
Any package provided by a repository you have configured would not be considered a ‘foreign’ package - even if you might think of it that way if it didnt come from Arch or EOS.

And just in case it has not been mentioned before/enough ..

The Chaotic-AUR repo is not something to be used lightly by inexperienced users ‘just to make the AUR easy’. It should be fully understood that there is absolutely zero oversight on the packages it provides. It automatically builds the user-submitted (unvetted) AUR PKGBUILDS and then serves them as compiled packages to you as if it were a ‘regular repo’.

I’m fully aware of Chaotic-AUR. I primarily have it for the CachyOS kernel. But I’m aware of what Chaotic is.

  • Bitwarden-bin was installed by me because the regular version had issues logging in for several update cycles. I see no reason to uninstall the bin version which is working perfectly just to install the traditional non-bin version.
  • megasync-bin was installed by me for the same reason as Bitwarden.
  • I was advised by the developer of Klassy on the KDE Discuss Forum to install klassy-bin due to compatibility issues during the last Plasma update. Again, not uninstalling it in favor of the traditional non-bin version since it’s working as expected.
  • I could go on. But I have no problems with -bin versions. of ANY app if it works. -bin versions ALWAYS install quickly. Example… Librewolfe from the AUR took over three hours to install on my laptop. The -bin version was about 3 minutes.

Thats not really how bin works though.
They will certainly ‘install quicker’ because they do not need to be built.
But there are many scenarios in which a bin version would fail to work for you.
Some bin might be specifically compiled for a different set of software/configurations than yours.
Because .. bin means binary .. compiled.

Thats all I was originally trying to point out about them - that you have less foreign because of chaotic, and the ones that still appear foreign are almost all binaries .. because chaotic would not recompile something already compiled.

So the answer of ‘why is my list different when I didnt do anything?’ is you did do something - you added Chaotic. Now your list is smaller. And made up of things not found on Chaotic.

That would be easier to read if you just do pacman -Qm | wl-copy and then Ctrl- V this into your answer, preceded and followed by a ``` line …
