Well after you do some basic reading, youāll know more (if youāre interested enough to do it).
But the synopsis is a modern written from scratch tiling desktop environment.
Can be compiled from GIT/AUR.
From the YouTube videos Iāve seen and the many articles Iāve read, Cosmic seems to be a tiling-optional environment with traditional DE by default.
Thatās probably a slightly expanded version of my very terse descript.
Iād probably wait for all associated work to https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch/issues/356 to be completed first.
It seems initial support for groups was merged last week which is very encouraging, but I suspect the process tree is still not reformed and I suspect that in its original state it would be prone to annoying behavior if/when the session crashes.
All that said, I suspect that COSMIC will 100% be packaged and maintained in Arch repos when it is production-ready, so you will be able to set it up on EOS too without having to go through AUR if you can be a bit patient.
We probably wouldnāt consider integrating it into the installer unless:
We donāt actually include every DE in the installer. There are several that are packaged on Arch that we donāt include. For example, Cutefish, Deepin, Enlightenment, Pantheon, UKUI, etc
It absolutely makes sense, thanks!
I can wait. So yes, itāll be interesting to see how that DE turns out.
Thanks again.
I understand and Iām fine with that. Thanks for explaining it to me (and to other potentially distracted users like me).
