POE2 strange memory behavier

Hi there

I installed POE2 over steam, but have memory/ping/fps/name it problems :man_shrugging:

POE1 works with 45-60 fps and no problems. I know that POE2 is still in development and maybe in 6-8 month the game would (ß) also work for me…but i cant wait! So maybe someone has an idea for tuning ^^This is my machine

and that is what top says about memory ect. usage

and that is what the game sees as graphic card - what is correct

the mtr to e.g. 8.8.8.8 shows me an average of 35 ms with no packet loss, but the game says with its own connection tool it is between 60 and 500 ms - crazy up and down of the ping and thus with the frame rate. Any tricks for me?

What version of Proton are you using?

i tested 9.04 and experimental and hotfix - no difference

I would post something on the PoE2 forums; I doubt that you’re the only one having issues with a pre-release game. For now, I would check out the posts here for configuration tips: https://www.protondb.com/app/2694490

thx for link

You may want to install and use gamescope if you’re using X11. Another option is to install a Wayland compositor, like Hyprland, and play games in that session, or use Budgie’s Wayland session, if it has one.

For a good number of my games, in the last few months, they eventually crash on X11 if I’m not using Gamescope, and for some, even with Gamescope they crash on X11.

In contrast, using either my Cinnamon Wayland session or Hyprland, without Gamescope, my games run just fine like they used to.

Some reference/experience: [SOLVED] Steam Games Work on Wayland, But Not X11

gamescope does not work, no changes. I tried also some “hints” from protondb.com, but with no success. There is also talk of custom proton 9.21, but i dont know how to bring it into steam.

Well, the thread I linked has other things you can try. Some of them may not have worked for me, but that’s my system. They may work on yours.

Me think it is again ggg-shit as it was in POE1 with Vulkan and Intel Iris XE graphic when i needed a third party patch to play with Vulkan. You can find it at this page post number 5

So me think ggg shit again on Intel internal graphics. I will have to wait for a third party patch for poe2. Its a shame.

POE2 works fine for me on Endeavour, X11, Proton 9.0-4 (no launch options) running an AMD RX6800 XT. OK, apart from I have to click it twice to launch it, but I’ve had 12hr+ sessions with no crashes or issues at all really.

You can try Proton-GE, you can install that and other custom versions with Proton-up:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/protonup-qt

Thx. It is a bit more constant, no more crazy ping and fps up and down with the GE-Proton 9.21. So at least i can play. It is still not that good as it is in POE1, but i hope that ggg optimize the handling of the Intel Iris XE a bit more.
