in mean time some filesystems are broken :stuck_out_tongue:

well I just tried to update my system, I haven’t done anything else than

sudo pacman -Syu

and the error I get is:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
hwinfo: /sbin exists in filesystem (owned by filesystem)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

sure that  but we are here to help fixing

Problem is I am on the road and need to install a GPS app, but want to first make sure my system is up to date to avoid any package breakage. Can I just use the welcome app and update mirrors?

hwinfo is handy but not a system liberary. are you not comfortablen remove hwinfo does not break the system

or just dont update !

yes update mirrors and sudo pacman -Syyu --ignore hwinfo if it still does not update to latest hwinfo …
