"Plasma Simple System Monitor" = No readings at all

I have installed this plasmoid/widget on other arch based distro’s without any problems.
Maybe someone can decipher this, maybe could help:

Thank You

Did you remove it and try it again?

Edit: working for me

Are you sure? :joy:
Read the values… :sleeping:

@ricklinux Yeah I can get to there, but no readings: memory, swap, cpu, temp etc. Something missing ?

Check if you have the packages ksysguard and libksysguard installed; if you don’t, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll need them.

EDIT - actually, you should only have to install the ksysguard package if you don’t have it; that should pull in libksysguard as a dependency.

Okay … i didn’t realize that’s what the OP meant. :confused:

Sorry i didn’t know that was the problem. I just thought it wasn’t installing. I see now. :thinking:

@Stagger_Lee
That was the cause. “libksysguard” was installed but no “ksysguard” . Wouldn’t ksysguard be installed by default?

This doesn’t seem the same as i have used it in the past. I installed kysysguard and it works but i am unable to adjust the size of it because it has cpu entries on the right side. Before i could size it to a reasonable size now it’s too big and won’t go any smaller so i won’t be using it anymore. Too big for my liking.

Only thing missing is Core temp
Rick Did you try configure > skins

No i didn’t really spend ant time looking at anything. Just found it very large.

Depending on your desktop wallpaper: set it to “crystal”

Can anyone get core temp readings?

Do you have lm_sensors installed?

yes
“sensors-detect”

```Driver `nct6775’:
  • ISA bus, address 0xa20
    Chip `Nuvoton NCT6797D Super IO Sensors’ (confidence: 9)
Driver `k10temp’ (autoloaded):
  • Chip `AMD Family 17h thermal sensors’ (confidence: 9)```
ksysguard has been deprecated in favor of plasma-systemmonitor, but it’s still available. The monitor widget you’re looking to use hasn’t been updated since 2017, so it still depends on ksysguard.
Small as i can make it.
So, you’re running an AMD CPU? There seems to be a lack of support for AMD CPU temps with this widget. However:
You could try this version, which appears to have been patched to enable CPU temps for AMD CPUs.
I cannot verify if this is working, as I don’t have any AMD-based computers, but you might want to give it a try.
Here’s a basic manual installation method:
First, uninstall the version that you have now (also, you should probably double-check at ~/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/ and if there are any remnants there, delete them).
Open a terminal and enter:
git clone https://github.com/Iridias/plasma-simpleMonitor.git
You will now see a new folder in your Home directory called plasma-simpleMonitor.
cd into that folder:
cd plasma-simpleMonitor
Now run:
plasmapkg2 -t plasmoid -i ./plasmoid
You should get a message stating that it was successfully installed. Hopefully it displays your CPU temps.
Finally, you can remove the plasma-simpleMonitor folder from your Home directory (and also the zip package from Downloads). You might want to save them somewhere , or you could simply delete them.
Thanks for your reply.
Installed. Still missing temp.
Will do until I can find a widget to read my core temp.
New pc, surround sound, wireless adaptor.
Taken a while to get things AOK.
It’s been edifying!!
This is the widget that I use to display temperatures:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/plasma5-applets-thermal-monitor-git
It’s simple but pretty configurable. I have it sized really small (and set to Fahrenheit). You can choose multiple temps to display.
thermal_monitor
I installed resources monitor and thermal monitor as widgets in the panel and they work well
