is like : https://wiki.cachyos.org/configuration/dual_gpu/

Seems with 2 simple commasds it can be integrated for Plasma and Gnome:

sudo pacman -Syu switcheroo-control
sudo systemctl enable --now switcheroo-control

Would be easy to integrate into nvidia-inst and if we can detect we could also integrate on install process if user using Nvidia option. @manuel ?

Before this thread, I simply just had nvidia-prime installed and use prime-run and the environmental variables it sets to use my dedicated GPU.

I installed switcheroo-control and activate the service and I’m underwhelmed. It seems this is made more for GNOME and Plasma just has some support for it. It seems to work, but the way you get it working under Plasma is not the most intuitive way possible. It does work, however, which is nice. I have both installed now.

Should be easy to do, but I haven’t used that so I should try it first.
But it looks like it can be used with any discrete GPU and any DE?

gnome kde cinnamon

Would be nice if some Users here with dualgraphics can test this and give some screenshots or info on how it looks and how it works.

I made a new (experimental) version 25.2-1 of nvidia-inst. It has a new option --switcheroo which

  • installs package switcheroo-control and
  • enables the service (the same commands as shown above)

and does nothing more. So it can be used with a non-Nvidia discrete GPU too.

Anyone with related GPU hardware please test and report here!
