Plasma best choice imo

Plasma seems more polished than other eos choises. I ended up using X11 though. Steam ran OK with Wayland but X4 would not. Works in X11. The only oddity with Plasma I experience is the toolbar jumps to the top them bottom again. It has happened twice. I think it moves when I go full screen then come out of it

Plasma is a bit buggy at the moment. I just switched to Plasma a month ago, just in time to set everything up to my liking and then plasma 6 hit and messed all my settings up. I still run into the occasional daily bug, but i expect in two or three months all the serious bugs to be patched. Other than that, yes, I like it.

During the transition to Plasma 6, some addons did not yet work. I deactivated all running addons on Plasma 5, updated to Plasma 6 and set it up according to my wishes with the appropriate addons. I am very satisfied. Of course there are a few hangs here and there, but the developers should be forgiven for that during such a transition

agree. I’m just saying it’s not the best moment to try out plasma. Two months from now the ride is surely going to be much smoother.

KDE Plasma 6, Wayland session works perfectly for me on my old late 2014 MacMini. Zero issues. So I’ll agree for a desktop. Laptop, Cinnamon is best… IMHO.

I don’t use any addons, so there are no problems in wayland or x11 sessions.
Yesterday I tried to remove everything with qt5 and similar. That failed in the end, because I had to remove vlc, and that is needed by a package needed to run plasma6… So I aborted my test, got some snacks and enjoyed the sun. And the working installation of endeavouros with plasma6.

Plasma is a complete DE like GNOME. But I like to use XFCE. No not because it has a smaller memory footprint. Both KDE and XFCE are similar when it comes to resource use these days. It just doesn’t break. Does it’s work and keeps to it’s self. Even with the recent major release nothing broke.

I did a fresh install of EOS a few days back and even with nvidia card, Wayland and plasma have been practically problem free (except a minor bug when the screen locked in the very first day, that seems to have been corrected with updates, because i did nothing and it sorted itself out)

I chose KDE Plasma for DE because my previous distro was Kubuntu, so I was already familiar. Though i have to admit, I also pondered going with Budgie.
