It’s been in Extra-Testing for nearly a day (since this morning). It’s not officially out yet for Arch until it hits Extra. I’ll wait until then.

I’m resisting the urge to rerank my mirrors, figuring it’s only hour(s) in any case.
Edit: And after 6 tries (total) and 5 minutes after posting…updating.
Edit 2: Apparently the plasma-login-manager update forgot my default choice and I booted into Cosmic (unknowingly) and I was having a ‘Whoa! What happened’ moment there…whew.

Did you install the new Plasma Login-Manager? What steps are to do to get the new Plasma Login-Manager and remove SDDM?
This is what I did:
sudo pacman -S plasma-login-manager
sudo systemctl disable sddm
sudo systemctl enable plasmalogin
sudo pacman -R sddm-kcm
sudo pacman -R eos-breeze-sddm
sudo pacman -R sddm
I hope I did that correctly, then I rebooted the system and the login screen appeared.

The first step is not necessary, as that package has been installed along with plasma 6.6

Is it a lot of difference compare to SDDM?
It wasn’t there on my system and I had to install it after the KDE update.

From what I’ve read, SDDM and Plasma Login Manager are virtually identical.

By the way, I can confirm that this worked perfectly. I really like the new login section under settings.

Yep it wasn’t there for me either. I guess plasma-login-manager isn’t a dependency of anything and therefore wasn’t pulled in automatically during the update.
I wonder if it’s pulled in automatically for the atomic distros like Aurora, Kinoite, etc.

I just did the update on my parents’ laptop and the plasma login manager was also missing. I also had to set up the automatic login again (it’s a new program, so that’s understandable).
I don’t believe that it will get installed by default. At least for the foreseeable future. It’s probably going to be left to the distro in question whether or not to package it. Plasma Login Manager is systemd only. And obviously, many distros will never use systemd.

Thanks. Works fine on my end as well. Same case, I need to install plasma-login-manager.

Anyway, Plasma 6.6 seems to be working perfectly fine. Personally, I will stick with sddm, as I see no real reason to change at this point. I prefer to wait for plasma-login-manager to mature and follow its natural course.
