When I saw the news 5 hours ago, I thought it would be instantly available in the Arch repo. Guess I was dreaming a bit too early ![]()
Same here. Hopefully soon!
I used to think that too..but someone snuck in a QA phase for some software.
Pesky testers.
May be a day or two before it hits Arch testing, then.
Hopefully before the weekend. I don’t expect a release today.
Yeah I think they’re gonna actually (guess only guess) wait on promoting the latest 6.4 patch out of unstable before they load 6.5.
This makes me very sad.

If you want to bleed on the edge then enable the unstable repo and install the beta version. Last few times I did that I had to manually downgrade QT from the TTY after installing the stable version. ![]()
I usually do…but think I’m not gonna this time.
6.5 is now in Extra-Staging, though I’m not clear on whether it goes from there to testing, unstable, or straight to extra.
Staging means the maintainer is pulling everything together “behind the curtain” for public consumption again. After all packages are figured out in staging it will move on to testing.
Straight to extra is unlikely because it always goes to testing first. Unstable isn’t going to happen because that it for beta or rc software. 6.5 was in unstable for the betas (aka 6.4.80+) in the last few weeks, but we are past that point now.
It is in extra-testing now.
Always a little longer than you think…at this point, I’m thinking weekend or next week.
But I HOPE I’m wrong and it’s sooner lol. Gimme my presents NOW!
Plasma 6.5.1 is to be released next tuesday.
Perfectly plausible that they’ll wait for the bugfix release.
