That’s an impressive list.

They really had a lot of work to do

Those who complained about not having a screensaver should be happy. Can’t wait for the updates!

You can now configure the screen locker to unlock without a password, letting it be used as a traditional screensaver if you enable a visually attractive wallpaper plugin and disable the clock (Kristen McWilliam, Plasma 6.1. Link)

Screen savers are absolutely unnecessary for me personally. I either work or I don’t

I agree with you. I’m also really looking forward to 6.1

This is true. I personally don’t see the need for them either.

Then the two of us are in agreement. No need of the screensaver

Me too!

There are 3 of us.

I haven’t used a screensaver since the late '90s.

The beta is available in the kde-unstable Arch repo in case anyone wants to give it a try. Just make sure you enable the core-testing and extra-testing repos as well.

Edit: installing it caused my system to log out, which I haven’t seen before. This created a partial upgrade which I thankfully was able to fix as soon as I logged back in. However, it could have been a lot more messy.

Installed and working so far!

Edit: Cube still working.

Working nicely here too.

What’s that on your left monitor? Is that some type of live wallpaper? Looks neat!

It’s a plugin called “City Grow”: https://store.kde.org/p/2138971

I’d love to see the cube being added/returned to the virtual desktop switch animation. Cognitively, it helps visualise the whole concept of virtual desktops in a 3d space so much better (for me, and I recognise that’s a subjective optinion). Here’s hoping it comes back soon!

The new edit mode is a huge improvement:

Now including the updated panel configuration settings:

One thing that confused me is the announcement from the Linux Experiment that Dolphin now supports root/admin access in 6.1 Beta. This was not enabled by default in my installation, and I had to install the “kio-admin” package for this. Perhaps this had always been there?
