Plasma 5.22 Beta: The Quest for Stability and Usability

Well …you would know better than I. I’m just saying if it happened it’s no big deal. :slightly_smiling_face:

Preferences - Profile name - Color - Transparent background checkbox (you can’t adjust the slider until you’ve checked the checkbox).

I upgraded to unstable kde yesterday, and noticed several little things fixed. I haven’t ran into any issues yet…quite happy.

Only thing I don’t have is the adaptive transparency option in the panel, which should be one of the new features…

Is this what you mean?

Yup, here it looks like:

Edit: seems it needs to be implemented by the theme.

Ya …on the standard theme i don’t see any difference.

What theme implements it?

The default breeze themes.

Hmm, somethings not right for me. I am not getting any opacity at all in either Breeze Dark nor Twilight.
And I know the compositor is working, because my terminals are partially transparent.

Gobble…gobble?

My main issue is some UI stuttering using Wayland. This is extremely prominent when opening new tabs in Firefox. Anyone else seeing this?

Have you read through this?

Particularly this part:
Run Firefox with the following environment variable enabled:

  • In Wayland, with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, see #Wayland.
  • In X.org, with MOZ_X11_EGL=1.

Yes, this is not an issue with FF being slow, opening tabs and loading pages in FF just triggers the issue prominently (I assume because of the sudden performance spike/demand). The whole UI stops responding for a second. 5.21 is working fine.

Seems it’s finally considered stable and due to that it’s released. Guess it’s going to hit regular repositories soon.

Actually it was released yesterday, but I’ve not yet been able to pull it down via Arch.

I’m staying on XFCE - but it certainly is interesting to see how much Compiz has influenced KDE over time. It might tempt me yet!
