Submit this to Astronomy Picture of the Day. It is better than any of the pictures there (search for “dolphin”, “porpoise” or “sh2-308” i.e. the nebula’s formal name, Sharpless 308). It is easy to visualise the three-dimensional gas cloud here!
What aperature, type of telescope did you use? Astrocamera? Pictures stacked for final shot? Exposure time and length for each stacked photo? Interesting stuff. . . .It’s been a hobby of mine for well over 40 years. I own several telescopes. . . largest is a 25-inch F/5 dobsonian.

Very good. . . . astrophotography has always been a interest for me but time and lack of dark skies were some of the issues. As of now . . . old age, cold, wind, setup and takedown times have been major issues. The sky here is dark. . . Wish I could have had a building with roll off roof or dome for the telescopes. They typically say that the telescope that gets the most use is the one that takes the least amount of time to setup and take down and adapts to the tempertures the quickest. Good photographic capture. . . .

I would love to see one of your captures as one of the next Release Wallpaper

@ainz I agree 100 percent it looks awesome as my Openbox Wallpaper
I will share some this week in the wallpaper art category. ![]()
If possible, can you provide some with 3840x2160 resolution too?
definitely.
I hope it’s okay that I show some photo’s my dad made in the late 1950’s; he was one of the first people in their village who had a camera.
He put all his negatives in a well organized folder.
I’m in the process of digitizing these negatives.
@ainz including one of your captures as a EnOS wallpaper would be considered distributing your work in a lot of countries, which is different than using it for personal use. If you are OK with that, could you give EnOS permission to use your work ?
Pudge
@Pudge You have a valid point. Personal use is fine,
but since all of my recent captures are originally for different projects and i’m not the only one in those projects. So, that might complicate licensing around distribution.
When i get some free time then i’ll precisely capture some new images for the purpose of including them as wallpaper.
And if i submit/post my images to be included as EnOS wallpapers then i would clearly mention it in detail and give the required permission in that post.
Thanks for your consideration!
– ainz
That would be great. But you might want to PM @Bryanpwo and see what he needs on the EnOS end of things. It is because of things like this that we keep him around.
Excuse me, I have to run and hide now.
Pudge
@Pudge I think an upcoming talk about your future on this project would be appropriate now. (Nothing to do with the comment you made earlier
)
Player 1 has entered the game.
