I’ve tried to update pacman but I’m getting the following errors:
Things I’ve tried so far:
- Update pacman using sudo pacman -Syu
- Clearing paccache
- Redownloading mirror list from welcome screen
- Running sudo rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck
- Rebuild arch linux keyring
None of the methods I’ve tried so far have helped. Any help is much appreciated.

The community repository doesn’t exist snymore. Remove it from /etc/pacman.conf.

Welcome to the forum

When did you last update ?
You can see the message is already from 2023.
You can also update by using the below mentioned command.
eos-update
I last updated a few weeks ago. The message is not from 2023. And after running the eos-update command, I get this:

It is clearly shown in your picture that you still have community repo in your pacman.conf

Thanks. Even though the community repository was enabled, I disabled the lines with comments. After running an update, the updates fetched.
Should the community section within the pacman.conf file be always commented?

You can leave it commented. Or you can remove it. The community repo doesn’t exist anymore. It was merged with extra repo.
I see that. However, is the community repo not necessary anymore moving forward?
It’s so that I can update my other pacman.conf file on my other machine.

It’s fine to leave it commented if you’re unsure. It’ll make no difference whether it’s commented or removed.
Correct. For the foreseeable future, the [community]
repo has ceased to exist.
